Old-Fashioned Bierocks

Servings: (Probably) about 16-20 Bierocks

Prep Time: 3 hours

Cook Time: 1 hour

Ingredients:
  • 2 packets Dry Yeast
  • 2 tsps sugar
  • 2 Tbsps sugar
  • 5 Tbsps water
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tsps salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2/3 cup margarine
  • 6 cups flour
  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups onion I'm guessing minced.
  • 1/2 head cabbage Could be as much as 2/3 of a head.

  • Instructions: For the filling, brown hamburger and onions draining well. Add cabbage and cook until tender.

For the dough, dissolve yeast in 2 tsp sugar and water. Heat milk, margarine, salt, 2 tbsp sugar, 2/3 c water. Beat in the eggs and gradually add flour. Knead until smooth and forms into dough. Let rise for 1 hour then punch dough down and let rise again until it doubles in size. Roll out and cut into 5 inch squares. Add filling in the center of each square and bring up the corners to seal shut. Place on an ungreased baking sheet (seam side down) and let rise once again.

Bake at 425 degrees until browned.
