Servings: Makes about a pound of modeling material.

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup pickling salt
  • 1 packet UNsweetened soft drink mix (Kool-aid, et al.)
  • 1 cup water Boiling-hot
  • 2 Tbsps vegetable oil
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour

  • Instructions: Into your stand mixer bowl, stir together salt and drink mix. Next stir in the boiling water. Not all the salt will dissolve but we'd like to give it a head-start. Add oil and then gradually add in the flour. Stir/knead with the mixing paddle (not the hook) for 10 minutes. Move to a zip-top bag with most of the air removed to store in the 'fridge. Dough can be used immediately after it cools to room temperature, but plays better after a day's rest.

Notes: Plain-old table salt can be used in lieu of pickling salt, but it doesn't dissolve as nicely, leaving the the dough a bit gritty.
